How to Take An Effective Mental Health Day 

Signs you might need a mental health day

Paying attention to signs and signals that its time to priortize your mental health is important to developing effective coping skills. By asking yourself the following questions, you will have an easier time identifying your needs.

How am I feeling?

  • Am I functioning at my best?

  • If not, what would I need to get there? 

Another identifiable set of symptoms are:

  • Feeling stressed.

  • Feeling tired

  • Being unmotivated or unenthusiastic.

  • Becoming more disorganized.

  • Struggling to get small tasks done.

  • Changes in your eating or sleeping habits.

Ways to show up for yourself

Get outside and move your muscles. A lot of people find that spending time walking or hiking outdoors can be rejuvenating.

  • Stimulate your mind. Taking a class or attending a seminar might also replenish your energy and enthusiasm.

  • Create a calm home or office. You can tackle some tasks and projects if you feel like completing them will give you a boost.

  • Just relax. You might want to rest your mind and body with a day on the couch catching up on your favorite shows.

Make a plan, but keep it simple. Don’t try to accomplish 15 things. Be patient with yourself!
